The Village

Villastrada is set on a hill amid rolling countryside and is surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. Other crops, depending on the time of the year, are sunflowers, maize, tobacco, melon and tomatoes plus anything else they think may grow. It is not by accident that Umbria is known as the green heart of Italy.

Within the village there is a general store which is rightly famous for its meat counter, a post office, a ladies hair dressers a general agricultural store and a church. There is also the Sportivo or sports field where fiestas and barbecues are held through out the summer. These provide a good chance to taste the local food dishes, sample the wine and watch or join in the general fun. English is not spoken in the village so you will need to take your phrase book!
